Tower Lotteries have acted as External Lottery Managers for Wiltshire Air Ambulance since their weekly draw was launched in 2009. As part of our agreement with the charity, we recruit all new members and process the payments of those people that wish to support their local Air Ambulance.
As we approach the 10-year anniversary of the lottery being launched, membership has continued to go from strength-to-strength. Despite only being able to canvass in the county of Wiltshire, the lottery now has over 36,000 members and this week recorded a record high paying total.
Due to the lottery continuing to grow, this in-turn has had a positive impact on the donations. Year on year, the amount of money made by the charity has grown as membership has gone up. These figures have always been in the public domain and Wiltshire Air Ambulance are rightly proud of how much income they derive from their weekly lottery, often quoting figures on social media and in their Lift Off Magazine.
This week Head of Operations Richard Wild and South-West Area Manager Mark Harris visited the charity at their airbase in Semington. After the meeting, which discussed the continued success of the draw, Richard and Mark took the opportunity to meet the pilot and lead paramedic and present them with a cheque for £1.1m. This is the amount of money that the lottery donated in the last financial year, money which represents pure profit to the charity, and which will be used directly to fund their helicopter and rapid response vehicles.
The lottery makes up a sizeable proportion of the £3m needed to continue to fund their lifesaving operation. Its importance cannot be under-estimated and Tower Lotteries are proud of the part we play in raising such a staggerin
g amount of money.
