Wales Air Ambulance now boast four helicopters in their fleet after welcoming the latest addition in April 2017. This means the charity now cover the country from regional airbases in Carnarfon, Dafen, Cardiff and Welshpool and it has come a long way since it was launched on St Davis’s Day 2001.
Wales Air Ambulance have now attended over 24,000 missions and this figure is growing by approximately 2,000 every year.
Incorporated in the charity is The National Children’s Air Ambulance for Wales. Onboard this helicopter is one the most advanced incubators in The United Kingdom and this ensures that babies and young children in Wales are given the best possible treatment when being transferred.
The Lifesaving Lottery is run from their offices in Dafen and such is the membership levels that it directly funds two of the helicopters. Therefore, the income to the charity from this revenue stream is vitally important and the charity are indebted to the hard work of the fundraisers working every day on their behalf.
