Tower Lotteries Head of Operations Richard Wild will officiate at a sold-out Wembley Stadium on Sunday 31st March 2019. Richard, who has been a Football League match official since 2014, will act as an Assistant Referee at the final of The Checkatrade Trophy between Portsmouth and Sunderland.
The two competing teams have huge followings and have sold their full allocation of tickets, meaning a record attendance for the competition, in excess of 85,000, is expected to watch the game. If this wasn’t enough pressure, the match will also be screened live on Sky Sports.
Speaking about the occasion, Richard said “It is a culmination of over 10 years hard work as a referee. I didn’t think my career as a match official would ever hit these heights when I started out in The Rochdale Sunday League, however it will be an honour to walk out at a packed Wembley and will certainly be something I remember for the rest of my life.”
Everybody at Tower Lotteries wishes Richard the very best on the day and we will all be watching!
