Michael Budd has been voted Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Canvasser of the Year for the 3rd time running.
Michael has represented Essex & Herts AA for nearly 8 years now and has played an integral part in their lottery growing from 20,000 members to nearly 195,000, that’s a revenue stream of just under £10m a year! As a result of work by Michael and many of his colleagues, the charity is almost unrecognisable from when they first started promoting the lottery, which is to the benefit of the people of the two counties who rely on this lifesaving service.
Michael was presented with his award by Chief Executive Jane Gurney at the recent training day when all canvassers present got to see where the money they raise is spent, as the new state-of-the-art helicopter flew off on a mission whilst they were in the hangar.
Also part of the day, Critical Care Paramedic, Adam Carr, from the air ambulance gave vital life-saving training to our canvassers in CPR.
The thought process behind the training was that canvassers, whilst wearing the uniform of the charity, may find themselves approached by members of the public in critical situations and could perform this emergency procedure whilst waiting for expert medical assistance and help to preserve life.
