The new Children’s Air Ambulance completed a ‘first’ recently when it transferred its first ever set of twins. This was only possible after the introduction of the new AW169 helicopters, which are bigger and allows the charity to safely transfer more than one patient if necessary. They are based in Doncaster and Oxford and have allowed the charity to undertake more missions than ever before and fly to the aid of children of all ages.
The Children’s Air Ambulance are the only flying intensive care units in the country dedicated to transferring critically ill children and babies from local hospitals to specialist paediatric treatment centre. The charity is totally reliant on donations from the public and Tower Lotteries are proud to run and administer their highly successful weekly draw. Membership has gone from strength-to-strength in recent years with over 31,000 players now regularly taking part. Tower and TCAA have a clear plan to grow this over the forthcoming years as the money directly funds the frontline operation of the charity and positively effects some many families at their time of need.
