The winner of The Canvasser of the Month Award for March is Essex & Herts Fundraisers Gary Woolhead.
52 year-old Gary is one of our longest-serving fundraisers having worked for Tower Lotteries since 2012. In this time, it is almost impossible to state how much money he has generated for the various air ambulances that he fundraises for, however, it will run into hundreds of thousands of pounds, if not more.
In March, Gary had one of his productive months of recent years. The bulk of his sign-ups were for Essex & Herts AA, however he also recruited new members for London’s Air Ambulance and The East Anglian Air Ambulance.
Gary was one of those fundraisers who started out working for Essex & Herts AA when the charity had 20,000 lottery members. Due to his hard work and that of other fundraisers he works alongside, that figure has grown beyond all expectation over the last 7 years. As a result, the charity is now applying for a new license as turnover is set to exceed the limits allowed, testament to Gary and some of the other long-standing fundraisers on this account.
Gary’s excellent cancellation rate for the deals he did in February have helped him scoop this award. He had the best attrition rate of any fundraiser for Essex & Herts AA, which is down purely to his consolidation technique and clearly explaining everything to the new member. Allied to this, he is extremely good at capturing e-mail addresses and mobile telephone numbers, which help to keep cancellations at a minimum.
