The winner of the November Canvasser of the Month Award is The Air Ambulance Service’s Alex Brookes-Smith. New father Alex wins the award for the second time, but it is a richly deserved accolade after a fantastic month.
Alex and his work partner Daniel Mayhew adopt a different policy to other fundraisers in their quest for new members (see picture on www.towerlotteries.co.uk). Rather than stand behind a barrel or in-front of a pull-up, they both sit behind a table that contains images of the air ambulance on it. In the background stands their pull-up, but they never get off the seats they occupy and having seen them in action, people will approach them rather than the other way around. It is a fascinating way of doing things, but a way that works as the number of new members they recruit will testify.
In November, Alex not only recorded the highest number of deals across the country, but he also did the highest number of £1 deals in the process. He did more £1 deals than most fundraisers did total memberships for the month, which leads to both him and Dan having a fantastic cancellation rate. His average amount per member in November was £5.53 per month, the lowest in the country but therefore his rate is so good.
After much hassling from Tower staff to up his data capture, he achieved this goal in November as well with 75.42% of his deals containing an e-mail address. That enabled him to win this award for a second time, and thoroughly well deserved it is.
