Canvassers from Tower Lotteries attended the Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance at their Headquarters in Bracebridge Heath and RAF Waddington on Tuesday 12 June as part of their induction to the charity.
Canvassers, and Area Manager, Mark Sullivan met with Media & PR Officer, Marie Williamson who gave a comprehensive presentation to the team about the charity and the important roles they play towards raising vital funds towards the £4m for the charity as it is planned that later this year they will have the ability to fly 24 hours a day. Canvassers were then invited to the viewing area, which is adjacent to RAF Waddington, the home of the Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance helicopter. The crew flew the helicopter in a fly past around the canvassers on the Aircraft Viewing area and then landed it on the car park for the canvassers to see the helicopter up close and meet with the crew.
Chief Pilot, Captain Paul Smith and Co-pilot, Anna Loake showed canvassers around the aircraft, an AgustaWestland 169. They explained that it is a brand new state of the art helicopter which the charity took delivery of in 2017. Canvassers then had the opportunity to speak with Unit Manager and HEMS Paramedic, Roger Linnell and HEMS Paramedic Jane Pattison. They ran through the vital equipment they hold on board and also thanked the canvassers for the work they do, which allows them to continue providing the lifesaving service that they are all very proud of.
